Ambuchar Devayam

This information is intended for use with the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.

At a Glance

Ambuchar Devayam is the Raja of Solon.  In life he was a necromancer of some power. Today he appears to be a lich or demilich; there’s nothing left of him except for the glowing golden orbs which serve as his eyes.

DM’s Notes

He was once Tan Chin, emperor of Shou Lung.  He was deposed, and driven from Kuo Meilan, by the wizard Shih.  A necromancer of great power in life, he has extended his existence through a unique form of undeath.

His primary goal is to raise an army in Solon, conquer Ra-Khati, and use that realm as a staging ground for retaking Shou Lung.  So far he has manipulated Gaumahavi into attacking the city of Kushk, but the bridge across the Jumpa River Gorge was also destroyed.

Dowagu

This information is intended for use with the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.

At a Glance

A construct.

Dowagu are intimidating, somewhat resembling either winged yuan-ti or male marilith, but their skin is black.

DM’s Notes

In spite of their demonic appearance, the dowagu are actually constructs, created by Ambuchar Devayam.  There are, supposedly, only six of them, and they are kept busy by their master in the ruins of Solon.

Gaumahavi

This information is intended for use with the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.

At a Glance

Gaumahavi, also called the Purple Dragon (though she is not a purple dragon) and the Great Dragon of the Desert Winds, may theoretically be encountered anywhere but is most likely to be found in the Hordelands, Raurin, or the Plains of Purple Dust.  She appears to be an extraordinary dragon of purple coloration and the “snake with legs” shape common to oriental dragons.

DM’s Notes

Gaumahavi is a unique creature, and unrelated to all other dragons.  She is neutral, and unlikely to be hostile unless attacked, or unless she witnesses someone harming nature in some way.  She will also come to the aid of her offspring Sandiraksiva, if she can, but in general she tries to avoid people, particularly after her experiences with the Raja of Solon.

A successful Knowledge check (Local DC 10, Nature DC 10) will tell anyone who encounters Gaumahavi that he is not a typical specimen of either eastern or western dragons.  Someone who is familiar with the Padhran religion can (Knowledge Religion DC 15) recognize her as Gaumahavi.  Alternatively, knowing something about the history of Ulgarth may (Knowledge History DC 20) may enable recollection of old folk tales surrounding Prince Surtava and his pet leopard.

Sandiraksiva

At a Glance

Sandiraksiva, also called the Black Courser, may theoretically be encountered anywhere but is most likely to be found in the Hordelands, Semphar, the environs of Solon or Kushk, or the Katakoro Plateau.  He appears to be an extraordinary stallion of indeterminate breed.

DM’s Notes

He’s neutral, and unlikely to be hostile unless attacked, or unless he witnesses someone harming nature in some way.

A successful Knowledge check (Local DC 10, Nature DC 10) will tell anyone who encounters Sandiraksiva that he is not a normal horse.  Someone who is familiar with the Padhran religion can (Knowledge Religion DC 15) recognize him as the offspring of Gaumahavi.  Alternatively, knowing something about the history of Ulgarth may (Knowledge History DC 20) may enable recollection of old folk tales surrounding Prince Surtava and his pet leopard.

The Ancient Might of Horus-Re

This information is intended for use with the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.

The Xaeyruudh Campaign

The Ancient Might is a sect within the church of Horus-Re which seeks to shape Mulhorand into an empire with a closer resemblance to Imaskar.

To this end, they seek artifacts of Imaskar (to remind all of the God-Kings of their past glory) and anything which will help them gain the upper hand against the “enemies of Mulhorand” – which includes, in their mind, anyone who doesn’t agree with the entirety of their agenda.

In spite of their frustration with the conservative regime, they have not assassinated any Pharaohs… which is more than the mainstream church can say.

Of all the sects in the church of Horus-Re, the Ancient Might is most focused on Re. From their perspective, the empire started sliding into decline as soon as Horus succeeded and became Horus-Re.

At a Glance

Set is one of the God-Kings of Mulhorand.  Although the Mulhorandi pantheon doesn’t do “portfolios” in the same way that powers do, Set is most often invoked in connection with hatred, ambition, betrayal, deception, political corruption, strife, tyranny, fear, loss, necromancy, drought, darkness, rot, snakes, and undeath.  He is also a patron of evil-aligned arcane spellcasters.  Within the Old Empires, Set wholly or partially supersedes Bane, Gargauth, Shar, and Velsharoon.

Set’s domains include Air, Darkness, Evil, Hatred, Law, Magic, and Scalykind.  His favored weapon is the spear.

Sebek is posing as one of the God-Kings of Mulhorand.  Although the Mulhorandi pantheon doesn’t do “portfolios” in the same way that powers do, Sebek is most often invoked in connection with wetlands, river hazards, stalking, bloodlust, disease, poison, greed (for money, power, whatever), hunters, reptiles, and evil lycanthropes.  Within the Old Empires, Sebek wholly or partially supersedes Malar, Talona, and Tiamat.

Personal History

In the Xaeyruudh campaign, Sebek is a sarrukh and thus older than the God-Kings. Before the Conjunction he masqueraded for some time as one of the minor gods worshiped by some Imaskari. As the planes aligned, he altered his disguise, and slew and replaced one of the conspirators.  After the Conjunction and the fall of Imaskar, he deliberately got himself exiled from the God-Kings’ midst so that he wouldn’t have to keep up his disguise.

Sebek created the werecrocodiles in response to the planetouched races created by the God-Kings.

Re

This information is intended for use with the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.

At a Glance

Re was, until the Orcgate Wars, the leader of the Mulhorandi pantheon.  Following his defeat in the Wars, his church was combined with the cult of Horus, and while some individuals remained loyal to him (separate from Horus-Re) for some time, today the cult of Re is small and disorganized.  Re doesn’t have a specific “portfolio” but the eternal prosperity of Mulhorand and the mulan people is his primary concern.
