At a Glance
This is a place to keep track of “house rules” which affect the Xaeyruudh campaign. Essentially: my clarifications or refinements (or outright rewrites) of the official rules.
Definitions
IntMod: Intelligence modifier. +1 for Int scores of 12-13, +2 for Int scores of 14-15, and so on.
Spells
Writing a New Spell into a Spellbook
The official rules are on page 179 of the 3.5 PHB. These are modifications/expansions/whatever.
Time: The process takes (8 – IntMod) hours per spell level. 12 hours to record a third-level spell with an Int score of 18, for example.
Space in the Spellbook: The number of pages needed to copy a spell is variable, according to a couple of factors. This rule will be expanded in a discussion of recording spells.
Materials and Costs: Ink generally costs 10 gp per spell level per page to inscribe one spell. For instance, copying a first-level spell costs 10 gp per page, while copying a seventh-level spell costs 70 gp per page. This rule will be expanded in a discussion of magical inks.
