Coming Home

I have a short attention span, and a lot of interests. Games including Neverwinter Nights, World of Warcraft, Age of Empires, Diablo II, Morrowind, and a few others like Torchlight. Writing topics running the gamut of politics, religion, gender roles, fashion faux pas, and celebrity behavior. Various regular or sporadic distractions like fitness and computer problems. I built my computer back in 1998 or so… I’ve had to reformat a couple of times but I’ve had no major problems with it so it’s easy to accept that its first apparent death a couple nights ago might also be its final demise. I think I have the problem narrowed down to either the motherboard or the CPU, but the 16 years of advances and marketing since I purchased these parts makes it very unlikely that I’ll find replacements that are compatible with the other components I have. For example, who sells dual-channel memory sticks anymore?

Behind all these distractions, though, Faerun has been my home since 1987. I buy some game time to play WoW every once in a while because I enjoy the visual representation of a world, but it’s never more than a pale glossover of the detail packed into the Realms, and I stopped logging onto WoW with 3 weeks still left on the cards. Morrowind, too… more detail than games like AoE or Diablo, and I enjoy the visual presentation, but it’s just a distraction. The Realms calls to me.

So. I’m back. And I have been working on new pages, but I’ve been favoring an offline wiki over WordPress due to the ease of adding new links. I may transition into using this page as more of a blog, adding lore posts more slowly in the future. As with everything else, time will tell.
