Acid Aerie

At a Glance

The Acid Aerie is a gorge in the Northdark, west of Blingdenstone, named for the lake of glowing green acid which lies at the bottom. Many narrow stone bridges span the gorge, and some tunnels lead to the Wormwrithings.

The Aerie is populated by dire corbies until they are decimated in an attack on Drizzt Do’Urden and Belwar Dissengulp and then finally extinguished by Zaknafein.

Small harmless denizens of the Underdark. They swell up like bullfrogs when exposed to fouled air, so are often used by svirfneblin in mine shafts and other isolated tunnels.

DM’s Notes

Their use as “early warnings” is similar to the mining duty of canaries in our world.
