A flying spider is a large spider, with wings. They have enough intelligence to be used as guardians, and accordingly are bred in Skullport and elsewhere, from there making their way into Waterdeep, Calimport, and other cities.

A magical beast.

A spider that lairs in temperate climes, both above and below. This breed was developed in Waterdeep, and has spread throughout the Realms from there and throughout the Underdark via Skullport.
