Until recently, this was a city of about 120 illithids and many slaves, beneath Lurkwood.

The elder brain and most of the other residents of the city were slain by Zaknafein. Subsequently it becomes the lair of a neothelid.

The Oasis of the Stone King

An oasis of the Underdark southeast of Blingdenstone.

The oasis undoubtedly has other names; this one is recent. The Stone King is a myconid sovereign, petrified by a basilisk (which was later slain by Drizzt).

A series of caverns in the Underdark, used as a trademoot by the drow of Menzoberranzan, the duergar of Gracklstugh, the svirfneblin of Blingdenstone, and a few daring/stupid surface dwellers.

Nobody lives in Mantol-Derith, but there’s a relatively small number of people who are here on a regular basis.
